So, chances are that you have heard of a little app called Instagram, or the gram. It is merely one of the biggest social media networks out there, no big deal. People are raving and striving to grow their Instagram page each and every day. The idea of growing your followers is the ultimate purpose of the gram. Your popularity is in the hands of others and is basically stated in raw numbers (followers and likes). But how do we actually gain fans and followers? Here are a few tips to help ya out…
First and foremost, post consistently. Posting once a day or every other day will guarantee followers to come your way. Believe it or nah, it is proven that accounts with the most followers tend to post with a higher frequency. Now with this being said, don’t be obnoxious and post four times a day. This will drive away people, which defeats the purpose. Top instagramers such as Gabby Epstein, Rocky Barnes, and Jay Alvarez lean towards posting every day. This point leads me to my next tip.
To keep people intrigued, generate content that your followers like. This means taking unique and desirable pics for everyone to see. For instance, instead of posting a basic half-hug and smile pic (the everyday pose in today’s society), try coming up with a different pose that no one thinks to do. Also, choose a setting that is easy on the eyes. A beachy environment would be considered as a desirable setting that gives life to your page. No one wants to follow a deadbeat page. To go along with your edgy pics and poses, you should edit them. Choose and maintain a chill vibe to your gram. It is also important to keep the same color scheme throughout the page.
To draw attention to your page, use hashtags! Hashtags are used to connect people with common interests. Once you hashtag a word, it automatically goes to a page along with millions of other pictures with the same hashtag. If you are a teen like myself and into fashion and trying to grab the attention of other people with the same interest, then you may want to hashtag things like “teen vogue” (#teenvogue). This allows for a bigger chance of being noticed and gaining followers. Also, tagging the company of the clothing that you are wearing grabs the attention of that account and everyone who is interested in that account. One of my pictures that I posted, I was sporting some Fossil sunnies. When I uploaded it, I tagged Fossil and they liked my pic and started following me. I have various brands like Alex and Ani, Fossil, Hangout Fest, Amarilo, Minimale Animale, Brandy Melville, Secret Scientist, and many many more just because I hashtagged and directly tagged them in my post.
Now that I have preached to the choir, you can start building your empire over social media! Sounds good to me. Looking cute for a living is not a bad idea. Be sure to keep up with me on Instagram @laceyjadeevans
